Comments from Bootleg Zone:
"This is stuff dreams are made of" could easily be the subtitle of the new SODD re-release of the famous Leeds '71 concert by the Stones. On the front cover the label promises to have remastered this concert recorded at the Leeds University in 1971 from a new source and it sure is, clearer than ever in terms of audio quality. This could well be the definitive version where not even an hour of the show is enough to appreciate a perfect stereo mix, without any hint of hiss.

About the performance, it is the classic Stones Mark II at their best with Taylor playing inspired solos as on "Love In Vain" and Nicky Hopkins at the piano. Listen to the fantastic intro to "Midnight Rambler" that brings out "Edward the Mad Shirt Grinder" before Keith Richards is ready to start the killer intro of a great song with Jagger performing the song like he never will do after, really interpreting the lyrics with passion and committment. ‘An uptempo dizzy new song’, that is how "Bitch" is introduced by Jagger before a very tight version with Jim Price and Bobby Keys on reeds is played. It is on the band introductions that the title of the boot is spelled out by Jagger that asks the audience to participate in the chorus of "Honky Tonk Women". A particular take of "Satisfaction" follows, certainly the 71 version has a strange drumming at the beginning and a diverse development, recalling the Otis Redding version, probably the only time the Stones have ever changed the arrangement of one of their anthems live. The surprise comes at the end where "Let It Rock" is not taken from the official 7" that came out on April 16th 1971 ("Brown Sugar" was the first British stereo single and first single to be released with picture sleeve!) , but is really the encore of the night, you can hear audience screaming well before the beginning of the song and Jagger comments. The new source of this show is for real, now if only "Jumpin’ Jack Flash" could be found as the opening song.....

The accompanying bonus CDR features the following day’s London show at the Roundhouse in full. It is a Mono Audience recording not comparable with Leeds but nonetheless a very good performance and one of the very few 1971 audience recordings of a concert to have surfaced so far.
